Welcome to Student Assistance Services
Hello, students and families.
As Student Assistance Counselor at John Jay High School, I work with students to prevent substance use, problem gambling and bullying, and promote mental health by raising awareness and providing support and skills for heathy behaviors.
I work with 9th-12th grade students individually and in small groups for education and prevention activities to correct erroneous perceptions about substance use, and to teach students skills to identify and resist social/situational pressures to use substances. I am available to meet with students experiencing peer, family, or other stresses that can lead to, or are related to, substance use, problem gambling, bullying or mental health issues.
Information that is shared with me by students or parents will remain confidential unless there is imminent danger of harm to self or others, or the child is being abused or neglected. My office is in Room K14 and it is located next to the District Offices. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Kind regards,
Samantha Wagner
