Dear KLSD Community,
It is with great pleasure that I share my intention to recommend to our Board of Education the appointment of Ms. Mary Ford as our new assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction effective July 1, 2018. Our Board will consider this recommendation at its next meeting on March 8, 2018.
Ms. Ford is currently the interim assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction in the Chappaqua Central School District. Prior to her current position, she was the director of K-12 literacy, a K-12 staff developer and the chairperson of the reading department, all within the Chappaqua Schools. Ms. Ford earned her B.S. in elementary and special education from Long Island University, her M.S. as a teacher of reading from City University of New York, and another M.S. in education leadership from Bank Street College. She is currently enrolled in Fordham University’s doctoral program in administration and supervision.
I know Mary Ford to be an educator of tremendous integrity, intelligence, work ethic, thoughtfulness, and dedication to the well-being and well-rounded education of all students. She is deeply committed to the concept of continual improvement through collaboration. Mary was selected for this position through a rigorous search process that brought us an outstanding pool of candidates. My thanks to all those colleagues and parents who helped us reach this recommendation. I am confident that Mary’s entrance into our District, should she be appointed by our Board, will only help us further our efforts to foster intellectually engaging, relevant, and active learning environments for all students.
