Update regarding Spring Break 2020

March 31, 2020

Dear KLSD Families,

As you’ve probably heard by now, in his effort to mitigate the ongoing health crisis, Governor Cuomo has directed that all schools are to provide continuity of learning through next week’s scheduled spring break.

KLSD will meet the Governor’s directive and will provide continuity of learning, as well as access to meals and childcare, throughout the week of April 6.

This news will be disappointing to some and a relief to others. Be assured that we will approach next week mindful of the varied needs of our students, families, and staff, and of the stress of recent days. In addition, we will be mindful of the significant religious observances that occur next week. Flexibility will be provided, and no student will be penalized for the observance of a religious holiday. More details will follow soon from your individual schools.

These are uniquely challenging times. My continuing and heartfelt thanks to our staff and our families for working together to keep everyone in our community, and in surrounding communities, as safe as possible. Please remember that all our school facilities continue to be strictly off-limits to any group activities.

Be safe and be well,

Andrew Selesnick, Superintendent of Schools
