Schools Closing Extended to May 15

April 17, 2020

Dear KLSD Community,

Yesterday, Governor Cuomo issued his latest executive order and all schools in New York State are now closed through at least May 15. We will continue providing distance learning for as long as we are closed. As the closure now approaches the end of this school year, we are giving a great deal of thought to all those end of year activities. We are mindful of the importance of various celebrations and will look for every avenue to maintain them in new ways. Please watch for opportunities to give your input and be involved.

Last night, more than 300 members of our community joined us for a Q & A via Zoom. My thanks to all who joined. To everyone else, you can now watch a recording of the session on our website. Your feedback and questions continue to be enormously helpful.

I wish everyone a safe, restful, and healthy weekend. Don't forget the Governor's rule about wearing a face covering in public places where social distancing is not possible. This new rule takes effect tonight.

Be well,

Andrew Selesnick, Superintendent of Schools
