Superintendent's Update: JJMS Principal

Dear KLSD Community,

I am very pleased to announce my intention to recommend to our Board of Education the appointment of Mr. Jeffrey Swiatowicz as the new principal of John Jay Middle School effective July 1, 2018. Our Board will consider this recommendation at its next meeting on April 12, 2018.

Mr. Swiatowicz is currently the assistant principal at East Ridge Middle School in Ridgefield, CT, and has served in that role for the last eight years. Prior to his current position, he was the assistant principal at Roger Ludlowe Middle School in Fairfield, CT, and previously was a district math coordinator and a teacher of math at both the elementary and middle school level within the Ridgefield Schools. Mr. Swiatowicz earned his bachelor of science in elementary mathematics from York College of Pennsylvania, his master’s degree in reading and literacy from Western Connecticut State University, and his administrative certification through the University of Connecticut.

Mr. Swiatowicz came through a rigorous search process and was well received by students, colleagues, and parents. He impressed us as someone with a deep commitment to supporting and nurturing the middle school age student, an understanding of the importance of collaboration in all aspects of the educational process, and a thoughtful approach to building a positive educational environment for all. Should our Board of Education approve his appointment on April 12, Mr. Swiatowicz will begin his new role in our District on July 1, 2018.

I look forward to introducing him to you.

Sincerely,

Andrew Selesnick, Superintendent
