Dear KLSD Families,

More than anything, I hope this note finds you well.

As you know, today we began a new experience with distance learning. Available here is a site that will give you some guidance for home learning (the site can also be viewed in Spanish and other languages). I hope you’ll find it helpful.

Please keep in mind that this experience is new for all. As our students are navigating through it, so are our teachers and administrators. Undoubtedly, there will be a variety of experiences at first. We’ll all learn and grow with time. I’m aware that this morning there were some email glitches with our Infinite Campus messenger. These things will happen. I ask for your patience and understanding. Our dedicated staff is working tirelessly to provide your children with meaningful learning experiences at home.

On another note, in prior communications I shared that we hadn’t any reported cases of COVID-19 in our school community. Unsurprisingly, that is no longer true. The Department of Health has discontinued asking schools to report out this information because the situation has grown so widespread. I share it here only to reinforce the importance of practicing all the health precautions advised by CDC and others. Please keep the appropriate social distance. Please do not gather in groups on our fields or playgrounds. We are under emergency orders that prohibit such gatherings.

Tell your children we miss them. Be safe and be well.

Andrew Selesnick, Superintendent of Schools
